A Soccer Skills Program for Children with Additional Needs

The Soccajoeys Next Step program is a tailored soccer program for families that have children with additional needs aged three to eight years and are in programs of early childhood intervention. The program promotes inclusion learning and provides children with the opportunity to increase their physical, emotional and cognitive development in a fun and safe environment.

The main objective of the Next Step program is to integrate participants into mainstream programs, local soccer clubs and assist children in their transition to school. The Next Step program has already provided classes to 94 children and is currently operating in the Hornsby Shire, Hills District and Waverly Municipality. The program has now assisted 28 children to join mainstream Soccajoeys activities. Of these, five children have joined local soccer clubs and have entered into mainstream activities.

With the support of the Soccajoeys Foundation this program’s operation will be provided to families at no cost.
